Trinity has the longest running Green Week of any university/college in Ireland. In 2022 we will be celebrating our 20th anniversary of Green Weeks!
From farm to fork, the entire global (and local) food system on our planet has been broken for years. Food grown with pesticides and fertilisers is now known to negatively impact our gut microbiome (the microbes that live in our digestive tract), whereas local, organic foods serve us better. Industrial farming has wiped out biodiversity across the planet, but regenerative farming practices (organic, permaculture, agroforesty, silviculture, etc.) have the ability to sequester carbon, grow healthy, nutritious food and provide habitat. Waste occurs at every point along the journey our food makes from land to our plates, yet there is a growing global movement which is having positive impacts on this.
Join us February 21st – 25th in a university-wide celebration of food, biodiversity and farms.
