The James Joyce Tower & Museum, Saturday 9th September - Thursday 14th September
Get ready to immerse yourself in a captivating celebration of creativity and culture as the inaugural Joycenights Festival lights up Sandycove Point from 9-14 September 2023. This vibrant event is set to showcase a diverse range, music, readings and community engagement, promising an unforgettable experience for all.
Joycenights Festival celebrates the week that James Joyce stayed in the Sandycove Martello Tower with Oliver St John Gogarty in 1904. William Bulfin described Joyce at this time as a “singer of songs which spring from the deepest currents of life”. This sentiment perfectly encapsulates the spirit of the festival – a gathering where both established and emerging musicians and readers converge to reconnect with the creative spirit of James Joyce in the Tower where Ulysses begins.
The Joycenights Festival is an annual celebration of music, art and community that seeks to showcase the transformative power of creativity. Inspired by James Joyce's commitment to creating extraordinary art, the festival aims to establish a vibrant cultural celebration that resonates with the local community and visitors alike. This festival is supported by the Dept of Tourism, Culture, Airts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media – Nighttime Economy, After Hours at the Museum scheme.
