The Irish Defence Forces Open Day will take place at Farmleigh Estate on Saturday the 29th of July 2023, from 11am to 5pm. This family friendly event is an opportunity for the public to interact with Defence Forces personnel, equipment and capabilities in a friendly and safe environment, enhancing the Defence Force’s relationship with the public. Equally, it will further promote the Defence Force’s current recruitment campaign.

The event will encompass displays from all Services, Corps and specialists; including an A139, an ARW display, an aerial jump by the Black Knights, a medical corps stand, vehicles including CAV & MP Bikes, MOWAGs, a vintage vehicle display, Naval services boats & equipment and our recruitment truck, to name a few.

The first St. Patricks Day Parade in Tallaght took place in 1980 and was organised by the Tallaght Youth Band. The band had made an unsuccessful application for inclusion into the Dublin parade and decided to organise a parade in Tallaght instead. In the intervening years, The Tallaght Community Council took ownership of the parade and delivered many specular events in Tallaght, bringing the parade on various routes, including the Old Bawn Road, Greenhills Road, into Tymon and Tallaght Village.
