A World of Cities – Professor Edward Glaeser, Fred and Eleanor Glimp Professor of Economics in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences at Harvard University.

Professor Glaeser will discuss the role that cities play in the world from the success of urban areas in the west to the rapid transformation of the developing world into urbanised areas. He will discuss the benefits that these processes have yielded as well as the tremendous challenges that lie ahead.

Professor Glaeser has published a wide range of research in the field of urban economics, studying cities, economic growth, and law in economics. In particular his work has focused on the determinants of city growth and the role of cities as centres of idea transmission. He has served as Director of the Taubman Centre for State and Local Government and Director of the Rappaport Institute for Great Boston.
