Smock Alley Theatre, Sunday 2nd February - Monday 3rd February

Zandra – Queen of Jazz: With just her sax and a suitcase, Zandra Mitchell joined a jazz band and toured the world.

Back by popular demand, after a sold-out run of 7 shows in Smock Alley Theatre last November and a spectacular ending to the shows in DLR Lexicon, Zandra – Queen of Jazz is returning for the International Herstory Festival of Light – an annual global event celebrating women and equality. The 2020 Festival takes place over the weekend of Brigid's Day (Friday 31st January – Monday 3rd February 2020) in honour of Ireland's triple goddess and matron Saint.

Born in Phibsborough, Dublin in 1903, she was Ireland's first female saxophonist. While the twenties roared she found her way through Europe to Berlin. The dictators rose; the books burned; the bombs dropped… and Zandra played her sax. Darn Skippy Productions present Zandra – Queen of Jazz, a play with original music, based on an extraordinary true story.

Vivaldi’s L’Olimpiade

Pavilion Theatre

Four young people, one an Olympic champion. Tangled relationships. Forbidden love, twice over. An unsuccessful assassination. An execution avoided. Irish National Opera continues its award-winning exploration of Vivaldi’s operas with the work which started the 20th-Century revival of the composer's works for the stage.
