Virtual Conference

HistoryCon is an interdisciplinary event celebrating the relationship between popular media and academic research.

This year’s theme is “Humanising History” and will focus on the connection between historical research and a personal relationship with popular media. The talks and panels will explore this relationship across different media and eras of history. These talks and panels will be aimed at mixed audiences. HistoryCon seeks to engage and invite the general public into the academic sphere.

Although HistoryCon arises from historical research specifically, this call is open to all disciplines. Interdisciplinary submissions are particularly welcome.

HistoryCon invites abstracts of no more than 300 words for fifteen-minute talks examining the connection between any popular media and any aspect of history from any era. Presentations should connect historical research to a widely accessible and noteworthy film, television show, book, video game, musical, or comic. They should be suitable for a mixed audience of ages 12 and up.
