
National Gallery of Ireland, Thursday 3rd July
Join us for a special French-themed evening as our Thursday Lates events make a summer return.
On Thursday 3 July, we'll be celebrating all things French in our collection with an evening of art, music, theatre and design.
Highlights on the evening include:
- Theatre performance – Olwen Fouéré will present ‘Duet’ in our Shaw Room.
- Pop-up Concert – Dewi Jones performs Appel Interstellaire by Olivier Messiaen.
- Tours – free guided tours exploring a selection of works by French artists in the collection, and a special tour of food in French art led by Blanca Valencia and Santina Kennedy.
- Meet the Makers – Irish designers Kelly McDermott from Kelly Designs, Lisa McCormack from Capulet and Montague and Anna O'Byrne from All Around the Sun will be in the Gallery Shop, where there will also be music from Dandelion.
- Art talk – French artist and historian Jérôme Courtaux will discuss Gustave Caillebotte’s Banks of a Canal, near Naples in this dual language talk, presented in association with the Embassy of France in Ireland.
- Film screening – The acclaimed 1923 silent film Paris qui dort will be screened in our lecture theatre is association with the Embassy of France as part of the 2025 Bastille Day in Ireland Film Programme.
You can also enjoy your own French picnic box on our front lawn, with food and drink inspired by the Gallery’s French collection, available from our Citroen Van Café.
Plus tickets to our summer exhibition, Mainie Jellett and Evie Hone. The Art of Friendship cost only €5 after 5pm. Friends of the Gallery and under 18s go free.
