The Matchmaker – The smash hit comedy's last time on the Gaiety stage. Based on the novella Letters of a County Matchmaker by John B Keane. Starring Mary McEvoy and Jon Kenny.

Dicky Mick Dicky O'Connor is going on his holidays to Ballybunion, but before he does he's going back to The Gaiety Theatre up in Dublin one last time to arrange a few matches for the lost and lovelorn. The Matchmaker, based on the novella Letters of a County Matchmaker by John B Keane, one of Ireland's most celebrated writers, will be at the Gaiety Theatre for the last time, this November starring Mary McEvoy and Jon Kenny. Together they play a myriad of characters in this hilarious and earthy dramatic comedy.

Using his inimitable way with words and his one sense of “devilment” and wit, Keane delves into the longings, hungers, fears and foibles of this collection of lonely people and creates a marvellously colourful world, taking us back to a simpler time, when phones were few and far between and the only web was one left behind by spiders.

“Great performances by two great actors…… standing ovation”. – Joe Duffy, RTÉ.
“The Gaiety's hilarious production of The Matchmaker will leave you in stitches.” – dublinlive.ie.
“The Matchmaker is a classic that continues to entertain.” – The Sunday Business Post.
“Keane uses the lyrical, colourful language of his part of the world the way a painter uses the palette.” – New York Times.
“I saw it, laughed, cried, loved it and went again.” – The Guardian.
