A talk at NCAD by one of the leading writers on design and the applied arts today.

Dr Glenn Adamson will explore Fewer Better Things, linking the concept of material intelligence to ethics and aesthetics today. He will draw on examples from contemporary art and design, and discuss the relationship between craft expertise and technological change.

Glenn is a curator, writer and historian who works at the intersection of craft and contemporary art. Currently Senior Scholar at the Yale Center for British Art, he has previously been Director of the Museum of Arts and Design; Head of Research at the V&A; and Curator at the Chipstone Foundation in Milwaukee. He is the author of a number of key books including Thinking through Craft (2007) and The Invention of Craft (2013).

The talk will take place in the Harry Clarke Lecture Theatre at NCAD. The event is open to the public. It is un-ticketed, so please arrive in good time to get a place.
