National Biodiversity Week is all about connecting you with nature. It’s about communicating the importance of biodiversity and providing motivation and know how to play your part in protecting it.

It’s also about entertainment! Find fun and wonder outdoors with ten days of celebration!

National Biodiversity Week is organised by the Irish Environmental Network (IEN), with thanks to funding from the National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS). Events are run by IEN member groups, as well as by Local Authority Biodiversity Officers, through the Heritage Council's Ceangal programme, NPWS Rangers and other local groups.

We are delighted to be celebrating Ireland’s natural diversity with in person activities and online events. We will publish details of all events on our calendar and social media. There are events covering all interests, from the ocean depths to the mountain tops. Join in to celebrate our Nature and Biodiversity with a range of family-friendly activities. There’s lots to see and lots to learn, so dive in to the events and see what interests you.

Ukulele Hooley

Dún Laoghaire

Ukulele Hooley in Dún Laoghaire to host 2000 ukulele players Get ready for a weekend of music, fun and community spirit as the Ukulele Hooley returns to Dún Laoghaire for its 15th year on 22-23 August. Europe’s longest-running ukulele festival will bring together around 2,000 ukulele players from Ireland and across the globe for the much-anticipated Big Jam in the People’s Park. The main concert event kicks off in the People’s Park, Dun Laoghaire on Sunday 23 August at 11:30am. We have an amazing lineup of ukulele artists local and international, both new faces to the festival
