Mondays at the Mess: ‘The Letters of Constance Markievicz’ with Lindie Naughton

This event has ended

Online, Monday 7th March

Constance Markievicz is a part of the story of Richmond Barracks, but unlike the signatories of the Proclamation, her story did not end in 1916. Her letters give us brilliant insight into a woman who was active across a number of nationalist and cultural movements, from Cumann na mBan to the labour movement. During this talk journalist Lindie Naughton will examine the letters of Markievicz revealing the woman behind the words and giving us a glimpse of Irish society at the time.

Lindie Naughton is an Irish journalist living in Dublin. Her publications include Irish Olympians 1896-1992 with Johnny Watterson, Markievicz: Prison Letter and Rebel Writings (Dublin, 2018) and Markievicz – A Most Outrageous Rebel (Dublin, 2016).

The talk will take place online using Zoom. The Zoom link for this online event will be sent to you in a reminder email, 24 hours prior to the event.
