Mondays at the Mess is a series of talks at Richmond Barracks that celebrate the rich stories and experiences of the local community, past and present.
Mother, Widow, Prisoner, Judge, Politician, Women’s Rights Activist, Senator, Lord Mayor, and Revolutionary. These are just some of the roles that Kathleen Clarke undertook during her remarkable life. A woman not afraid to speak her mind, she devoted much of her life to the cause of Irish freedom, a cause her husband Thomas Clarke was executed for on 3 May 1916.
To mark the 50th anniversary of the death of Kathleen Clarke, we will be joined by historian Liz Gillis as she explores the remarkable life of the so-called Guardian of the Flame of the Irish Revolution.
