Bloomsday celebrates Thursday 16 June 1904, the day depicted in James Joyce’s novel Ulysses. The day is named after Leopold Bloom, the central character in Ulysses. The novel follows the life and thoughts of Leopold Bloom and a host of other characters – real and fictional – from 8am on 16 June 1904 through to the early hours of the following morning. The Stoneybatter Festival is back this year from 13 – 15 June 2025 Kicking off on Friday 13 June with some launch events, then lots of open house style events on Saturday. Once again Manor Street and Prussia Street will be closed to traffic on Sunday from 12 to 6pm. There are lots of plans for this year that embrace the core values of community, sustainability, culture, sport, music, food and of course, Gaeilge. The Stoneybatter Festival has been running since 2017 and has enjoyed fantastic support from the local residents, businesses and organisations in the area.
