Irish Chamber Orchestra-Molique And Piazzolla

Join the Irish Chamber Orchestra and accordionist Dermot Dunne directed by Katherine Hunka for a spectacular evening of tango music. Dermot performs a seldom heard but charming Accordion Concerto by Molique. As well as being a composer, Piazzolla was a virtuosic performer on the bandoneon and now Dermot Dunne transfers this extraordinary richness onto the classical accordion. Piazzolla created compositions to showcase his star musicians and Escualo was written for Fernando Suarez-Paz a renowned tango violinist in his band. Contrabajissimo was written for Hector Console, the bassist in his final quintet. This expansive work showcases Piazzolla’s ability to weave western classical and tango music seamlessly. Piazzolla’s Milonga del Angel, brims with nostalgia while Adios Nonino, inspired by the death of Piazzolla’s father, became a classic and one his most popular works. Enjoy this selection of sexy, tango-inspired compositions – a real splash of colour to beckon the summer.
