Imbolc Fair: Traditional Butter Making with Daisy Cottage Farm

This event has ended

Meeting House Square and Curved Street, Monday 2nd February

Step back into Ireland’s rich food heritage with this hands-on butter-making experience from Daisy Cottage Farm, hosted by Lorraine. Explore the deep cultural roots of butter in Irish history and folklore, and discover why it has long been one of Ireland’s most treasured foods.

Lorraine will guide participants through a live, interactive demonstration of traditional butter making, with everyone invited to churn and pat fresh butter themselves. Along the way, you’ll learn how butter was made in Irish homes and farms for generations, and how these practices connect to seasonal celebrations like Imbolc.

Guests will receive a small take-home handout exploring the cultural importance of butter in Ireland. A sensory, family-friendly experience celebrating nourishment, tradition and the simple joys of making by hand.
