BT Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition
RDS, Wednesday 9th January - Saturday 12th January 2019
The BT Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition is much more than a competition; it is an unforgettable experience of a lifetime for the students who take part. The Exhibition itself is the final stage in the competition, which is open to all second level students from Ireland, both north and south. As well as the student projects on display, there are a further four exhibition halls filled with science and technology based exhibits and entertainment, making it a thrilling event for those who entered and for general visitors too.
In 1963 two physics researchers from the University College Dublin, Rev. Dr. Tom Burke and Dr. Tony Scott, came across the concept of ‘Science Fairs’ while conducting research in New Mexico, America. The pair decided that this type of hands-on science was something that students in Ireland could benefit from. And so the Young Scientist Exhibition was born. BT has been the proud sponsor and organiser of the BT Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition for 18 years.
The mission of the BT Young Science & Technology Exhibition is encourage all second level students (12-19 years) across Ireland to take part and enter an enquiry based project and thus foster their interest in STEM (Science Technology, Engineering and Maths).
Organised by BT, one of the world's largest & longest-running project based science & technology initiatives in the world.
