Áine Gallagher: For the Love of Milseáin

Smock Alley Theatre, Friday 28th March

Award winning comedian and Ireland's “queen of the offbeat” Áine Gallagher, is on a mission to prove that speaking Irish can be both accessible and hilarious.

Following an incredible year where 2024 saw Áine embark on a national sell out tour and be listed among the Irish Times 50 People to Watch, Áine is back using her quirky and deadpan style as her secret weapon as she navigates Irish language learning, mistake-making, dating and mug-cake-baking to create a wholly unique comedy experience. A comedy experience that is bilingual and that guarantees to reignite your grá for the language and unlock your cúpla focal, even if you don’t know a word.

Known as Ireland’s only guerrilla Irish language enthusiast, Áine has been travelling the length and the breadth of the country with her Cup of Focals (a literal cup brimming with Irish words). Understanding the nation’s widespread fear of engaging in the Irish language, Áine mostly jumps out at people from behind trees, hoping to surprise them into chatting Irish with her.

However, in “FOR THE LOVE OF MILSEÁIN“, audiences can sit back, feel inspired and enjoy Áine’s tales, like when she met our president Michael D Higgins and other similar disasters in her own journey to learn Irish.

With her deadpan, offbeat and wholly unique style, there is no doubt Áine will ignite your passion for Irish, even if you don’t know a word.

Urinetown The Musical

Malahide Community School

Urinetown is a wickedly funny, fast-paced, and surprisingly intelligent comedic romp. In the not-so-distant future, a terrible water shortage and 20-year drought has led to a government ban on private toilets and a proliferation of paid public toilets, owned and operated by a single megalomaniac company: the Urine Good Company. If the poor don’t obey the strict laws prohibiting free urination, they’ll be sent to the dreaded and mysterious “Urinetown.” After too long under the heel of the malevolent Caldwell B. Cladwell, the poor stage a revolt, led by a brave young hero, fighting tooth

The Trial of Thomas D’Arcy McGee: Irish Rebel – Canadian Patriot

EPIC The Irish Emigration Museum

Join us as the Newpoint Players, directed by Donal O’Hanlon, present this humorous historical fantasy, this reflection on the legacy of one of Ireland’s most important, yet almost forgotten, emigrants, Thomas D’Arcy McGee. In Canada Wexford’s Thomas D’Arcy McGee (1825–1868) is revered as a founding father, perhaps the founding father, of the country. In Ireland, he is either unknown or reviled as a traitor; a physical force republican turned colonial loyalist. On the 200th anniversary of his birth, McGee is called from the grave to answer, in the Court of History, the charge
