Liffey, Sunday 5th October

The Liffey Odyssey is a paddling event on the river Liffey starting on the outskirts of Dublin City , continuing through the heart of Dublin and finishing at the mouth of Dublin Bay at Poolbeg. This year we will be paddling for Barnardos Ireland Children's Charity see Barnardos

The Liffey Odyssey is hosted by Lucan Kayak Club and is supported by Canoeing Ireland , Dublin Port Company and Dublin City Sports & Wellbeing Partnership and Active Cities.

The primary aim of the Liffey Odyssey is to run a paddling event with a strong emphasis on active participation, fun and personal achievement. It is run as a tour rather than a race with the emphasis on it being a fun day out . The event is essentially aimed at club paddlers who have some paddling experience. All participants are required to have access to appropriate craft and necessary safety gear. A limited number of “non paddlers” may be eligible to take part subject to safety considerations and prior approval by event organisers.

The minimum age for individual bookings is 16 years. Under 16s can take part as part of a Youth Group . A separate booking facility is available Group Booking. For members under the age of 18 years the person making the booking on their behalf expressly agree to be responsible for the attendee's behaviour and agrees to personally accept the conditions set out here including the provision by him/her of a release and indemnity in the terms set out above

This event is open to a variety of craft that use a paddle such as Canoes , Kayaks, Sit-on-Tops and Rafts .It is open to public participation – however all intending participants will be required to satisfy the organisers they have sufficient ability to take part safely e.g. minimum Canoeing Ireland Level 1 skills standard or equivalent
