Sport Ireland Campus, Sunday 12th December

The SPAR European Cross Country Championships Fingal-Dublin 2021 will take place on 12th December 2021 at the Sport Ireland Campus.

Cross country holds a special place in Irish athletics. Successful editions of the World Cross Country were held in 1979 ( Limerick ) and 2002 ( Dublin ) as well as the European Cross Country in 2009 ( Dublin ). Iconic figures in the sport such as John Treacy, Sonia O’Sullivan, Catherina McKiernan achieved notable successes at World and European levels . They were joined in the recent past by Fionnuala McCormack who won European gold on two occasions and whom we hope will play a pivotal role in this year’s championships.

An event of this magnitude requires a highly motivated group of volunteers. We sincerely thank the hundreds who are giving their time, energy and expertise in the staging of this event.

Our main partners Sport Ireland, Fingal Council, RTE and Athletics Ireland have played a fundamental role in securing these championships for Ireland .We thank them sincerely for their support.

The recent championships in Lisbon in 2019 was Ireland’s most successful to date. We wish this year’s team every success in their preparation especially dealing with the unique challenges posed by the pandemic.

Let’s hope December 12th will be a memorable occasion for Irish sport in the beautiful surroundings of the dedicated cross country course at Sport Ireland Campus.

he very first WellFest took place in September 2015 in Herbert Park, Dublin. The festival was created by 4 founders; Helena and Katie Ryan, Fionnualla Cleary and Anthony Kelly. So they decided to create a festival that had music festival vibes… But with fitness icons instead of music groups, and avocados in place of alcohol!
