Climate Change: what it means for our built and archaeological heritage

This online talk with Jacqui Donnelly, Senior Architect, Built Heritage Policy, Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage and Pauline Gleeson, Senior Archaeologist in the National Monuments Service at the same Department, will give an overview of the impacts climate change is having on our cultural heritage and the actions the State is taking to address the challenges. This talk is being run as part of the National Museum of Ireland’s programme for National Biodiversity Week.

It is the first in a series of four talks that will explore Climate Change and Archaeology, exploring how discoveries of archaeological sites and artefacts, and the preservation of Ireland’s archaeological landscape and built heritage will be impacted upon by climate change. The talks will be given by members of Climate Change Advisory Group for Built & Archaeological Heritage and chaired by Nessa O’Connor, Assistant Keeper and archaeologist in the Irish Antiquities Division of the National Museum of Ireland.

This is a closed YouTube live event with a pre-recorded lecture and live Q&A. Booked attendees will receive a link closer to the event to view the lecture on YouTube. Please use the ‘chat' feature on YouTube to ask any questions about the lecture and these will be answered live at the end of the talk. This event will go live on Thursday 20th May at 1pm.
