Celebrate International Women’s Day with Instituto Cervantes Dublin, the Cultural Wing of The Spanish Embassy.
Zoom will set the scene for a beautiful video-dance piece that combines movement andpoetry. The non-profit association València Dancing Forward (VDF), co-directed by LauraBruña, Joan Crespo and Elizabeth Taberner, along with 21 dancers from the Valencian dance sector present the poem ‘Una cien veces’(One hundred times) by renowned Spanish writer Elvira Sastre.
A very clear message that advocates for diversity and unity in the voice of Gloria Núñez. An audiovisual that combines movement and word, recorded in the emblematic Main Theatre of València (Spain) to celebrate this International Women's Day and its role in the cultural sector.
The two guests, Laura Bruña and Mercedes Carbayo-Abengózar, will talk about this unique creation and the history of women. They will chat in a relaxed way about women’s issues in Ireland, Spain and globally.
Laura Bruña is Rehearsal Director of the National Ballet of Ireland and co-director of the Valencia Dancing Forward Association. She works as a visiting teacher in dance companies around the world such as the Johannesburg Ballet and the National Ballet of Marseille. As a dancer, she has worked in companies of great international prestige, such as the English National Ballet in London, the Stuttgart Ballet in Germany, and the Ballet of the Generalitat Valenciana.
Mercedes Carbayo-Abengózar is a lecturer at NUI Maynooth. She has done research on gender issues and is a specialist in Spanish History and Cultural Studies.
