The Big Scream Festival

Various Locations, Monday 23rd October - Tuesday 31st October

Dublin’s North East Inner City (NEIC) Big Scream Halloween Community Festival is a massive project which aims to encourage community engagement, empowerment and participation.

The build-up starts in mid-September when Youth services begin a six-week programme to entertain and educate young people about harm reduction around Halloween traditions.

Throughout the month of October, there are activities and workshops for children of all ages, while 31 Screams of Halloween offers daily competitions with fangtastic prizes!

The festival itself takes place in the days leading up to Halloween with a huge variety of events for older and younger residents – and even their dogs!

The spooktacular carnival on 31 October is an annual highlight as local families enjoy free rides and entertainment.

The festival is run, managed and delivered by a community-led steering group and our youth and childcare committees provide activities for over 1,000 children and young people in the run-up to Halloween.

  • Halloween Night Carnival: Seán MacDermott Street
  • Haunted Hall of Horrors: St. Agatha’s Hall, Dunne St.

  • Ghost Walks: Sheriff & Seán Mac Streets

  • Family Fun Day: Diamond Park

  • Surprise Movie Matinee: Seán O’Casey Theatre

None of this would be possible without our phantastic volunteers and the backing of local residents.
