Great Music in Irish Houses Festival

Great Music in Irish Houses Festival

Various Locations, Tuesday 11th June - Sunday 16th June 2019

Great Music in Irish Houses – Ireland's longest-established Chamber Music festival.

The month of June is a musical summer must for Irish chamber music devotees. The festival will present concerts of Chamber Music, “the music of friends”, in the sort of smaller, intimate spaces for which the music was originally written – away from the more formal setting of a concert hall.

Audiences will have the opportunity to hear some of the finest international and Irish artists perform a vast range of chamber music in a variety of Ireland's most historic and notable buildings – spaces that would not normally resound with beautiful and exciting music. Stately Irish Houses are juxtaposed with some of the country's iconic, modern buildings showing the diversity of Irish architectural and interior design. The Great Music in Irish Houses Festival is recognised widely as a prestigious platform for world-class musicians.

James Connolly Festival

Various Locations

The James Connolly festival, now in its 5th year, is an annual community-centred celebration of music, film, theatre and debate, with a radical twist. Connolly was one of the founders of the Irish trade union movement, so one of the main goals of the festival is to highlight the importance of trade unions for workers, especially among the young. More broadly the festival is committed to promoting  art, feminism, culture and politics, embracing progressive ideas in a comfortable space for debate that promotes the exchange of ideas. Every year there is a wreath-laying ceremony at Arbour Hill
