Lisa O'Neill is a songwriter like no other. Her roots may be sourced in folk and traditional music but her work opens up a landscape beyond any settled sense of genre. On her last album, Heard a Long Gone Song, she sets her remarkable incisive voice against impressionistic instrumental back-drops, like Margaret Barry colluding with the Dirty Three or some such meeting of minds. Lisa's latest release on the Rough Trade imprint River Lea, Heard A Long Gone Song has garnered huge acclaim both at home and abroad.

“The strangeness of all of this
I've taken to washing the messages
I wash
and I wish
and I watch
The strangeness of all of this
The news was very sad at six
I wash
And I wish
And I watch
The strangeness of all of this
I meet the odd mini bliss
I wash
And I wish
And I watch”
Lisa O'Neill.
