‘Bike Week’ is a celebration and promotion of the benefits of cycling and takes place from Saturday 9th to Sunday 17th May. Cycling is one of the most sustainable forms of travel and a family friendly activity. As a transport option cycling has one of the lowest impacts on the planet and the environment, impacting positively on air and noise pollution. There’s never been a better time to get on a bike! The purpose of Bike Week to encourage new, occasional, and seasoned cyclists to make cycling part of their lifestyle. Bike Week 2026 will run from Saturday 9th – Sunday 17th May

Africa Day is the annual day that commemorates the foundation of the African Union and celebrates the people and culture of African countries. In Ireland, the day is celebrated with events taking place in towns and cities around the country alongside the flagship Dublin event which takes place on Sunday 17 May, 2026 at the Royal Hospital Kilmainham. Organised in partnership between the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and Dublin City Council, 15,000 people attended the event in the Royal Hospital Kilmainham last year where they were entertained by over 40 musical acts, dancers an
