Opera in the Open is an initiative of Dublin City Council that presents live performances of operatic work in the open air in Dublin City Centre. The annual opera season is taking place on 6, 13, 20 & 27 August in the Amphitheatre at the Dublin City Council Civic Offices, Wood Quay, Dublin 8. Each opera performance is presented in an abridged format, narrated in English, and lasts one hour, fitting perfectly into the lunchtime slot from 1 to 2pm. Ukulele Hooley in Dún Laoghaire to host 2000 ukulele players Get ready for a weekend of music, fun and community spirit as the Ukulele Hooley returns to Dún Laoghaire for its 15th year on 22-23 August. Europe’s longest-running ukulele festival will bring together around 2,000 ukulele players from Ireland and across the globe for the much-anticipated Big Jam in the People’s Park.
