Dalkey, Monday 5th August

Dalkey is gearing up for another choice festival, ahead of Bank Holiday Monday, August 5th as many of Ireland’s best classic cars are expected to motor into this historic, south Dublin, heritage town for the Dalkey Vintage Festival, 2019.

From 11.30am to 6pm, the main street in Dalkey will close to welcome the “who’s who” of classic cars, including Mercedes-Benz, Alfa Romeo, Jaguar, Triumph and Lancia and there will be music and children’s entertainment throughout the day.

Sponsored by FLAG (Fisheries Local Action Group) North East, a community led local development scheme; it is expected that this year’s festival will be bigger and better than before.

A host of big names including Irish and world motorsport legend, Rosemary Smith, British Touring Car Champion, the iconic Alec Poole and RTE sports presenter Michael Lester will all be dropping by.

Highlights of this showcase event include Poole’s all conquering Wolseley Hornet from the late 60’s, pictured above, to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Mini. The event will also feature a treasure trove of antique stalls, vintage clothes and memorabilia.

Ireland’s premier Formula 1 simulator will be in situ and there will be live music in many of the bars and eateries.

Commenting on the event, one of the organisers, Camillo Borza of Benito’s restaurant, says, “We are looking forward to another vintage year and to welcoming to our coastal town, classic car enthusiasts, those young and not so young, as well as families and those looking for something different over the Bank Holiday Monday.”

Admission is free. Exhibitors and visitors will be invited to support children’s charity, Barnardos.
