Welcome one and all to Christmas Spectacular Smithfield Square, Dublin’s newest and most exciting festive experience located right in the very heart of the city. A magical new event on the calendar, and the perfect spot to make lasting memories and create new Christmas traditions with family, friends and loved ones. Supported by Dublin City Council, Christmas Spectacular Smithfield Square opens November 22nd through to January 2nd, from 11am – 9pm.

Ignite your holiday spirit at Dublin’s Smithfield Square, where Christmas Spectacular brings the first ever Ice Museum to Ireland. Guests can experience the pure magic of the season as they journey through the expertly crafted ice sculptures, created just for the occasion. Or for those who want to glide through the air with the greatest of ease, why not take a spin across the extra-large ice rink?

Stroll through a charming European-style market, filled with delicious artisan food & drinks, unique crafts and stocking fillers or wrap up warm & enjoy the beauty of Dublin city at the top of the Big Wheel. Be sure to stop by the cosy Nutcracker Snug to warm up after the wonderment of the Ice Museum too!

There’s something to cater for people of all ages at Christmas Spectacular Smithfield Square. From family fun in the daytime to festive frolics by night, the must visit attractions include:

  • Ice Museum: Ireland’s very first Ice Museum, a one-of-a-kind, custom creation made with Christmas joy front of mind. Guests should wrap up nice and warm as they experience this unique attraction filled with wintry wonder. An unforgettable experience and a great new family tradition, this attraction is guaranteed to astound those of all ages with its handcrafted masterpieces. Booking in advance is advised.
  • Ice Rink: There’s a new rink in town, so it’s time to pop the skates on and give it a whirl! The impressive Ice Rink is a highlight of any visit to Christmas Spectacular. For seasoned pros and beginners alike, it’s an ideal spot for making cherished memories. With the Dublin landmark that is Smithfield Square as a backdrop and the enchantment of Christmas in the air, the Ice Rink is sure to be super popular so booking in advance is advised.
  • Big Wheel: No trip to Christmas Spectacular is complete without a spin on the Big Wheel. Admire Dublin’s fair city from a brand-new vantage point, offering breathtaking, birds eye views of Dublin.   • Christmas Market: The beautiful, red-roof chalet market is open to all, set under twinkling lights and jam-packed with the very best in food & drink, handmade crafts & gifts. Set the mood for the Christmas Spectacular experience with a mulled wine or warm cider and a bite to eat before soaking up that magical Christmas atmosphere on the cobbles of Dublin’s iconic Smithfield Square. The bar is being operated by nearby Smithfield favourite, Fidelity, and sure to bring the best festive tipples to one and all.
  • Nutcracker Snug: Make sure to stop by the picturesque Nutcracker Snug during your visit – the perfect place for a mid-experience pitstop. With its Alpine Lodge styling it’s ideal for a quick break and family snap!

Christmas Spectacular is supported by Dublin City Council. Dublin City Council Dublin Winter Lights takes place at the nearby National Museum of Ireland Collins Barracks – booking required – a fantastic 360 degree immersive light and soundscape experience. In consideration of Dublin City Council’s ongoing commitment to becoming the first Autism-friendly capital city in the world, and in consultation with AsIAm, Ireland’s Autism Charity, relaxed timeslots have also been scheduled for both the Ice Rink & the Ice Museum.
