A Midsummer Night’s Dream

Pavilion Theatre, Saturday 7th June - Sunday 8th June

Arclight Drama Studio proudly celebrates its milestone 100th production with Shakespeare's most enchanting comedy, A Midsummer Night's Dream.

Set in a world where duty and order reign, love and art break free under the cover of night. As four young lovers escape the constraints of a repressive society, they find themselves lost in a forest where reality bends, and the lines between dreams and waking life blur. But they are not alone – this woodland is ruled by a mischievous band of fairies, led by the quarelling Oberon and Titania, whose magical interference turns passion into chaos.

Meanwhile, a band of amateur actors, including the boisterous Bottom, stumble into the night's strange enchantments, proving that art, like love, can thrive in the most unexpected places.

From the sharp wit of Hermia, Helena, Lysander, and Demetrius to the ethereal trickery of Puck, this production brims with energy, humour, and wonder.

With Arclight's signature inventiveness, the stage will transform into a realm where love is tested, identitities shift, and – just as Shakespeare promised – “the course of true love never did run smooth.” Director Paul Cullen brings his bold vision to this landmark production, reminding us that even in dark times, the power of love and imagination can bring light.
