The Sugar Club, Friday 30th January
Saxophonist, flautist, and producer Chip Wickham casts a formidable shadow across the UK jazz scene. From his early days in the UK breakbeat scene to a 17-year collaboration with Gondwana Records, Chip has crafted a series of acclaimed solo albums drawing on spiritual jazz, 60s British jazz, and contemporary influences like Jazzanova and The Cinematic Orchestra.
His latest release, The Eternal Now, is a flute-led, rhythm-heavy journey exploring timeless creativity. Co-produced by Matthew Halsall and featuring Luke Flowers and Sneaky, the album fuses soulful grooves with expansive, otherworldly soundscapes. Chip describes it as “a creative place where time has no purpose… a journey into new colours, energy, and artistic freedom.”
