The Kiss

Bewley's Cafe Theatre, Monday 10th November - Saturday 29th November

A decade after its acclaimed debut, Jimmy Murphy’s The Kiss returns to the stage in a gripping new production at Bewley’s Cafe Theatre.

Set in the quiet corner of a fading Dublin pub, this haunting monologue follows Eddie, a cab driver caught in the long shadow of love and loss, as he awaits the verdict of a courtroom trial—one that could finally deliver justice, or tear open a wound that has never truly healed.

In a riveting performance by Luke Griffin, Eddie recounts the harrowing aftermath of a brutal hate crime on the city’s streets. And as the judgment draws near, he drifts between cherished memories and brutal truths, confronting the weight of prejudice, grief, and the enduring connection he shared with Val.

The Kiss is a lyrical, and darkly humorous exploration of memory and mourning and asks, how do we move forward when forgiveness feels impossible and forgetting unthinkable?
