Booter Bee

The Sound House, Sunday 21st September

White shades and a black balaclava are the signature pieces of Huddersfield’s Booter Bee, a drill and road rap MC delivering violent stories of U.K. gang warfare. Having built a domestic fan base through appearances on signature freestyle shows like Hoods Hottest, Mad About Bars, and Next Up, he cemented his place in the U.K. rap scene with his debut full-length True Stories in February 2024.

Based around Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, British rapper Booter Bee debuted online with an appearance on P110’s scouting series Hoods Hottest, delivering a threatening freestyle laced in local rivalries and violent escapades. With charged-up lyrics focused on gun violence, gang warfare, and street disputes, the “F-Block”-repping MC built his audience slowly through a run of appearances on freestyle shows like Pacman TV’s “The Hotspot” and Mixtape Madness’ “Next Up,” and issuing early singles like “No Point,” “Separate,” and “BNB” at the start of the 2020s. An appearance from Kwengface on 2022’s “Emergency” ensured it was the rapper’s first track to break one million streams, the momentum from which secured him an appearance on Mixtape Madness‘ “Mad About Bars” later that year.

National Concert Hall

The new all-star trio of Beěla Fleck, harpist Edmar CastanŢeda and drummer Antonio Saěnchez features instrumentation that might safely be called unusual. Unless, of course, you’re already familiar with 19-time Grammy Award winner Fleck — the genre-blurring virtuoso who has done more to expand the possibilities of the banjo than any other player in the instrument’s history. From his bluegrass beginnings through his otherworldly Flecktones, his duo with Chick Corea and his astonishing reimagining of Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue, Fleck’s work never fails to surprise.
