The peatlands and bogs which appear in Bob Speers paintings are ‘thin places' where the veil between this world and the mystical underworld appears permeable. Including material taken from bogs all across Ireland, his paintings incorporate commercial paints and discarded household fabrics

The Dublin Painting and Sketching Club - 148th Annual Exhibition - is open to the public from Monday 14th until Sunday 27th September, in the Town Hall space of the Windmill Quarter. The exhibition includes painting, drawing, printmaking and mixed-media work by established and emerging artists from across Ireland. The Club was formed in October 1874, its aims were 'to bring together artists, amateurs and others interested in art and the holding of public exhibitions.'
