Tim Freedman

This event has ended

Whelan's, Wednesday 17th July

Tim Freedman is the lead singer, songwriter and pianist of legendary Australian folk rock group The Whitlams. He will perform the best of his renowned nine album repertoire with pedal steel and electric guitarist Ollie Thorpe.

His latest album is an Americana tinged collection of songs titled “Kookaburra”, which sat atop the Australian Country Album charts from March to May 2024.

Since 2022 a reinvigorated Freedman has led The Whitlams in a resurgence, touring heavily and releasing two new albums. Between band tours he has started performing smaller country towns in duo mode, and this piano/pedal steel configuration has developed delicate atmospherics to suit the poignant narratives in Freedman’s songs.

Strand

Upside Inside is the third single from Dublin’s fresh-faced indie five-piece STRAND, and second in promotion of their upcoming debut EP, titled SOUNDS. An ode to doing ‘nothing at all’, Upside navigates the mundane nature of being an adrift 20-something. Bassist/lyricist Shane Aherne’s penmanship and the band’s performance on the track, however, are anything but mundane.
