BAROQUE BRILLIANCE: Handel's Water Music

We know that Smock Alley Theatre resonated with the vibrant sounds of Handel’s ‘Water Music’ in 1742, just a stone’s throw away from Dublin Castle. This would have been at the height of ‘Handelmania’ in the city, with audiences eagerly crowding in to performances of Handel’s music at every opportunity.

The piece captured the hearts and imagination of audiences then as it continues to do now, combining the delicate dances of the Baroque era with the gleaming brilliance of the high Baroque.

Join the bright young talents of the award-winning Irish Youth Baroque Orchestra with their director, Claire Duff, to experience this fantastic piece at Dublin Castle. The Irish Youth Baroque Orchestra is presented in partnership with the Irish Association of Youth Orchestras.
