Ireland’s waterways, rivers and lakes form a vital part of the landscape and ecology of Ireland.
Join ecologist and author Richard Nairn on a summer evening, as he talks to Éanna Ní Lamhna about the importance of Ireland’s Wild Waters and about his life and career.
Richard Nairn is an ecologist and author. He has worked to protect nature all his life and has written a total of seven books on the topic. The three most recent titles form a trilogy called Wild Woods, Wild Shores and Wild Waters. Richard previously worked as a nature reserve warden and was the first National Director of BirdWatch Ireland.
Éanna Ní Lamhna is a a biologist, environmental and wildlife consultant, radio and television presenter, author and educator, and has been for many years a member of the panel of experts on RTÉ's wildlife programme ‘Mooney goes Wild”. She served for five years as president of the national environmental charity, An Taisce, and is currently president of the Tree Council of Ireland. Originally from Louth, she now lives in Dublin. Éanna is the author of several popular wildlife books, including Wild Things at School, Wild Dublin, (shortlisted for the Reading Association of Ireland Award) and Our Wild World. Her new book for children is call Wonders of the Wild, and is illustrated by Brian Fitzgerald.
