Imbolc Fair – Celebrating Brigit

Welcome Spring with a celebration of Brigit and the traditional festival of Imbolc. This year, Brigit takes over Meeting House Square for an afternoon of activity embodying the spirit and traditions of Brigit. Drop in for a demonstration in blacksmithing, join a wise women weaving circle, unlock your inner goddess with a tarot reading, plus music throughout the day from ARVQ & Lychee. Details of planned activities below!

– In the spirit of Spring – join in a mini-workshop with the floral experts from Flowerpop and learn how to make your own beautiful bunch of Bold Blooms! Select your stems from an array of stunning dried flowers and learn how to build a bouquet that will last forever. Ticket price includes materials for creating your own unique bouquet of high quality dried flowers which will be yours to take with you at the end of this mini-workshop. Tickets are €10 and can be booked here.

– In honour of Brigit as a patron of poetry, pop in for a chat with our Poetry Oracle Osaro who will help you craft your very own, one-of-a-kind poetic masterpiece. Tickets are €5 can be booked here.

– Join critically acclaimed author and tarot reader Moïra Fowley for a mini tarot session. Using the Imbolc tarot spread, connect with the goddess Brigit and your own inner goddess as we leave behind the darkness of winter and step into the light of spring. Tickets are €5 and can be booked here.

– Drop in and learn how to paint on a very unique canvas! Artists big and small can visit the experts at Dublin Body Paint as they show you how to create stunning wearable artwork on your own skin.

– Come together with ReCreate, the creative reuse company, in a creative space to make a large collaborative textile piece, using reused materials from ReCreate. During this drop-in workshop, we will encourage and support you to stitch and share your stories. Everybody and all sewing abilities welcome.

– Roll up your sleeves and try your hand at screenprinting! Choose from one of two designs and let the experts from Damn Fine Print studio will show you how to create your very own vibrant piece of art you can take home and hang on the wall.

– Stop by the 9 Irons mobile forge for a demonstration in blacksmithing, one of the traditional crafts associated with the goddess Brigit. Learn about the tradition of the 9 irons and meet Ireland's first female graduate in blacksmithing, Mary Hallinan.

– Join qualified ecologist, environmental scientist and accomplished craft worker Steffi Otto for some special drop in workshops in celebration of Brigit. Learn how to use rushes and straw to make crosses, biddy dolls, wands, butterfly cages, and more.

– As part of their Share the Warmth, Share the Blessing clothing drive, members of the Embassy of the Argentine Republic will have a pop up donation point in Meeting House Square where you can donate your gently used clothing in honour of the tradition of Brat Bride.
