About this event
As part of Heritage Week on Friday 20th August Phoenix Cricket Club are hosting an afternoon of stories , charting our heritage and history from our founding in 1830 by Charles Stewart Parnell's father, through the bombing by the Nazis, the first female president in the Park (before Mary Robinson), our brilliant cricketers, and great triumphs, to our present culturally diverse club .

We will host four 20 minute story slots (14.30, 15.00, 15.30, 16.00) with the inimitable John Mullins (half a century and not out).

This will be Covid compliant, so numbers are limited. We will also have an online version, if you're not lucky enough to secure a ticket.

“The Diversity Within”: Representations of Fairground Travellers and Showpeople in Irish Tradition

In recent decades, particularly when viewed through a media lens, Irish Travellers have been frequently depicted as a single homogenous group of people, all of whom share the same cultural traditions and history.
