The Trinity and UCD University Boat Race Committee is delighted to announce that the Colours Boat Races will take place in the centre of Dublin city on Saturday 21st March 2026. The Colours Boat Races began in 1947 when the Gannon Cup was presented in memory of UCD Captain Ciaran Gannon who was killed in Burma in 1944. Since then the list of races has expanded to include the Corcoran Cup (first raced in 1980), Dan Quinn Shield (2004) and Sally Moorhead Trophy (2005)

The event is part of the ongoing fundraising campaign to build a future for Conor (Age 10) & Dean (age 9) - two young Lucan brothers who were diagnosed in recent years with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy - a rare, muscle wasting, degenerative condition that has no cure.
