IMMA, Saturday 3rd October - Saturday 14th November
MOVING SIGNATURES returns for a new series uniting Slow Looking art tours and movement workshops in response to works in IMMA’s new exhibition, TECHNOLOGIES OF PEACE.
Taking place over two months, and designed for everyone to engage how they wish, participants will explore empathy and perception, using the body as a means of thinking through how we understand and respond to the world around us while exploring the ideas and questions raised by the exhibition.
Each of the five workshops takes a different theme as its starting point, and starts with a Slow Looking art tour of selected artwork in the gallery led by IMMA Horizons Curator Sundara O’Higgins.
Themes include:
- Technologies of Peace in Peach Caryatid by Ursula Burke
- Language and Translation in Comm 1992 by Locky Morris
- Trauma and Reverberation in Andrea Geyer’s Collaborative Weave
- Ecology and Architecture in Rita Duffy’s Watchtower 2
- Imagining Futures in Phil Collins’ Young Serbs
Each Slow Looking tour will be followed by an integrated movement workshop with choreographer and filmmaker Jonathan Mitchell.

Booking is FREE and open to adults of all ages. No previous experience of art or movement is needed – just curiosity and a willingness to look, move and explore together.
