Firedoor’s Uncut (a showcase of original plays)

This event has ended

Teachers Club, Wednesday 15th June - Saturday 18th June

The Uncut –our yearly showcase of short, original plays– is back on again and is scheduled to run from Weds 15th June to Saturday 18th June 2022. This year we have an amazing selection ready for you.

The Uncut is not only an ideal outlet for our emerging writer. It also offers plenty of opportunity for old members and newcomers alike to get on stage, practice their skills, and experience what a real production is. Participants are free to try new things and roles (such as directing, operating the sound, or organising costumes) in a safe environment with the guidance of a team and a “coaching buddy”.

These are the original plays that were selected:

  • Brexit, a Musical Fable (written and directed by Marta Callava) Musical comedy. Young Borish is determined to emancipate from his European family and fund his own estate, Good Britain.
  • Under Your Spell (written and directed by Marina Duarte) Drama. A woman struggles with the conscious, the subconscious, and her own ghosts.
  • Forgive Us Our Trespasses (written by Darren Hall, directed by Leitzia Delmastro) A dark comedy about the consequences of venturing into the unknown… properties.
  • Festive Crossover (written by Denis Burke, directive by Conor McGowan) Santa and the Tooth Fairy bump into each other on one magical night.
  • Veganpire (written by Glen Brady-Power, directed by Danny O’Leary) A troubled vegan vampire joins forces with the inhabitants of a little town.
