Ceramics Tour & Pinch Pottery Workshop

Make your own mug, cup or bowl in a hand-building class at National Museum of Ireland, Collins Barracks on Saturday 21st February from 11:40AM – 1:40PM.

Add onto your experience by joining Dr. Aisling Molloy for an exclusive 40-minute tour of our ceramics collection from 11AM – 11:40AM where she will discuss ceramic items which are illustrated and discussed in her book ‘Ceramics for the Home during the Celtic Revival’. She will discuss the significance of our ceramics collection and the influence of the craft on social change. The tour will offer rich insight and creative inspiration to spark ideas for your very own masterpiece. The tour add-on is limited to 15 spaces only so sign up now to avoid disappointment.

Our hand building pottery class will then shortly begin at 11:40AM led by Throwing Shapes, a community focused ceramics studio based in Dublin 8. This event is designed for complete beginners and focuses on building confidence with clay using simple, intuitive techniques.

You will be shown basic hand-building techniques like pinching and coiling, working on one piece that will be glazed in your chosen colour and available for pick-up in 4-6 weeks at Throwing Shapes, Unit 2A, Mill Street, D08 W6EV. Clay, tools and firing are all included in the cost.

Please note that you will need to keep your nails short for this class.
