Holly Johnson

Vicar Street, Thursday 25th September

Holly Johnson returns to the stage with a brand-new production featuring the timeless hits that made Frankie Goes to Hollywood one of the most influential bands of the 80s. Fans can expect to hear iconic anthems like the chart-topping ‘Relax', ‘Two Tribes', and the ethereal ‘The Power of Love'.

Frankie Goes to Hollywood ripped through the 80's music scene with the release of their 1983 debut single ‘Relax'.

‘Relax' proved to be one of the decade’s most successful and controversial singles, it sold more than 2 million copies in the UK alone ranking it among the 10 biggest selling singles ever. It remained in the charts for a record 37 weeks. The BBC famously banned ‘Relax' refusing to play it due to the perceived sexual content.

That November the release of their debut multi-platinum album ‘Welcome to the Pleasuredome' in 1984 shipped a record breaking 1.1 million in the UK alone. The album produced 3 consecutive hit singles with the release of ‘The Power of Love' and became one of the top 10 sellers internationally.

Holly moved on to solo success with the release of ‘Blast' which also celebrated 35 years with a red vinyl edition and produced hits ‘Love Train', ‘Americanos', ‘Heavens Here' and ‘Atomic City'. In 1989 a remix album ‘HOLLELUJAH!' Followed which is soon to be released in a Golden Showers Vinyl edition.
