National Drawing Day in Association with the National Gallery of Ireland

We have a great day planned for National Drawing Day, Saturday 21 May, 12-4pm. Come along to our free events (some require booking) and help us celebrate the day with our fabulous book and exhibition ‘Blot’s Most Marvellous Historical Guide to Printing Books’.

Drawing Workshop with Illustrator, Jennifer Farley:
• Time: 12 noon
• Duration: 45mins – 1hr
• Age group: 8-12 yr olds,
• Capacity: 8

In this fun, free and interactive workshop, draw along with illustrator Jennifer Farley as she shows you how she created the characters of “Blot’s Most Marvellous Historical Guide to Printing Books”. Taking place in the exhibition space, you’ll be surrounded by the fabulous illustrations and encouraged to create your own. All drawing materials will be provided.

• Duration: 30mins

Join Blot and curator, Dr Angela Griffith, on a tour of our exhibition ‘Blot’s Most Marvellous Historical Guide to Printing Books’. The exhibition traces a history of book making and printing in a visual and vibrant way – with the fun-loving Blot providing a scintillating and informative commentary.

All Day Activities

Printer’s Hat
Throughout the day join us in our education area at the end of the exhibition space and learn how to make a printer’s hat – just like Blot! There’ll be lots of drawing materials out for you to decorate it just how you wish.

Pull a print
Would you like to be a printer or a compositor? Find out all about what young printers had to learn in their seven year apprenticeship and pull a print yourself!

Deluxe Prints and Gift Set
We’re also delighted to announce that we will be launching two limited edition letterpress prints from the book and a deluxe gift set.
