Tuk Tuk Tattoo For Charity
Sobo Works, Dublin 2, Saturday 21st January 2017
Sobo Works are excited to host the first ever ‘Tattoo for Charity' event in Dublin on Saturday, January 21st, 2017. The purpose of this event is to galvanise awareness and support, while raising funds for the development of the first Green Energy School in East Africa, a project developed by Pendo Kenia e.V., which is endorsed by Tuk Tuk Cartel.
The Green Energy School combines two vitally important motivations of Tuk Tuk Cartel, ecological sustainability and education and we cannot wait to celebrate this initiative in such a creative and exciting way.
The event will include: live tattoos, live art, live music, beer, tasty food, donuts, a stand-up comedy act and an art charity auction, on a Saturday, in Dublin City Centre – all for just €10 which will help a great cause! Yes, really!
The Tattoo Magic
There will be flash tattoos happening live all day with two renowned tattoo artists; Królink and Olga Mopik Sienkiewicz who have kindly agreed to take part on the day. What's a flash tattoo you say? Flash tattoos means that each tattoo artist will have a beautiful collection of predesigned tattoos available for your perusal to select from on the day and have it skilfully inked onto your body in about an hour! Just like that.
Carol Ester and Luna Sangre of Wildcat Ink South, will be joining the tattoo crew, their style can be described as neo traditional, new school and Japanese.
There will be a great mix of live music all day throughout the event, thanks to gently persuading some talented people to offer their services and time to help get 500 more kids into school via Tuk Tuk Cartel. Expect some bouncing, upbeat electrical guitar sounds from Kev Olden, acoustic guitar vibes from Romain Ricard and the unique and quirky crew from Ukulele Tuesday, which guarantees to be great fun!
Talented designer and Illustrator Emma Sheridan will also be taking part. Emma will be doing live illustrations from 4 – 6pm on the day with her finished work going into our art auction that evening, all for the cause! This means the chance to get your hands on a truly unique piece of Emma's art while supporting something great!
All attendees will have the chance to get involved (or curiously observe) as Dublin stand-up comic Seán Reid makes you laugh so hard you hand over your cash for great art pieces and gift vouchers, with all proceeds going to the funding of The Green Energy school project via Tuk Tuk Cartel.
There will be a fantastic collection of art works on auction with kindly donated pieces from Dublin gallery Balla Ban, Emma Sheridan, Dublin artist Solus, glass artist Wild Bird Studio and 3 pieces from Dublin graffiti artist, Vents Dublin. There are also beautiful cufflinks handmade by Mane, which are unreal, as well as a few handy gift vouchers from the likes of The Ink Factory and Sprout & Co, CoCu, Bunsen, Juniors and Nails by Jenny Wong.
The Food and Drink
The guys at Moyee Coffee (The world's first fairchain coffee) and the sugar wizards at Offbeat Donuts kindly donated enough goods to keep you bouncing with Moyee's super fair trade, super tasty coffee throughout the day while the best donuts in Dublin keep you dancing or powering through that tattoo! To kick the day off, breakfast is served with fruit for those being good and tasty pastry formed goodness from the guys at The Natural Bakery.
For The Adults (in the evening)
Tasty cold craft beer from the legends that are Boyne Brew House, quite possibly the best gin we have ever tasted, from award winning Dingle Distillery (mixers) and the whiskey heroes from Jameson, mixing it up at their kindly donated cocktail bar! “Adult” refreshments will be cracked open for the latter half of the event with snacks and great food throughout the day, such as pizza “to die for” from the guys at The Big Blue Bus, Bernard Shaw.
For anyone who is on a health kick, don't you worry – you’re covered too! The healthiest obsession of them all CoCu are serving their better than the original chocolate brand treats! They have also generously donated three vouchers for a VIP brunch in their Chatham St location, which will be up for grabs at the auction later in the evening.
The event will be hosted in the slick and modern Sobo Works, 2 Windmill Lane, Dublin 2, in a space kindly donated by the team at Iconic Offices. Doors will open from 10:00 and the event will run till 22:00. It's going to be a great day to support some local artists and a really great cause, while having bags of fun.
All proceeds will go towards the construction of the school in Kenya.
