Button Factory, Friday 8th May

Thanks BrotherPostponed – Live at the Button Factory.

The new project from artists Róisín O and John Broe, Thanks Brother released their debut EP, EP 1., in November 2019. Preceded by brand new single Call It Love, this debut is a strong statement of intent; produced and mixed by Grammy Award winner Ruadhrí Cushnan (Mumford And Sons, Hozier, Ed Sheeran). The five track EP coincides with a nationwide tour.

Before forming Thanks Brother (a name given to them by Game of Thrones actor Peter Dinklage), both O and Broe enjoyed success as artists in their own right (Broe originally writer and performer with Miracle Bell and Róisín O with her own solo career). The duo have separately worked with Gavin James, CC Brez, Paddy Casey, as well as co-writing with The Coronas including the hits Get Loose, Real Feel and Find The Water. Since their inception the duo has been busy. Their first Irish tour in March boasted five sold-out shows and ended with support slots for The Coronas and singer-songwriter Gavin James, in addition to gigs abroad in France, the UK and the USA.

Coming together in 2017 – initially to write songs for a new Roisin O album – the duo discovered that their individual influences and song-craft combined to create a new sound, one that was characteristic of neither O or Broe. Surprised, but pleased, by this musical alchemy the pair refocused their gaze and, inspired by the epic soundscapes of Kate Bush, Francis and The Lights, Phoenix, and HAIM and with a desire to create a dynamic and confrontational musical statement, started to record as a new entity – Thanks Brother.
