Summer Sundays on College Green

College Green, Sunday 21st July - Sunday 4th August 2019

Summer Sundays on College Green – Drawing, Curiosity, Clowns and Carnival.

From Drawing in the City featuring sketching classes and 3D pavement illusions, to Explore & Create with Science & Technology attractions from the past, present and future, to City Carnival's Jugglers and Mime Artists – there's something for everyone at Summer Sundays on College Green. For three Sundays in a row July 21st, July 28th and August 4th, Dublin City Council will present this series of three great events.

Sunday July 21st
Drawing in the City – Inspired by artists such as Claude Monet, Walter Osborne and Nathaniel Hone who left their studios to draw from nature. The event will see the gallery's sketching and drawing classes move outdoors with practising artists from the gallery's panel leading four sessions throughout the day at: 12 noon; 1.00pm; 2.00pm and 3.00pm. No booking is required and materials will be supplied. It will also feature interactive street art, 3D pavement illusions, face painters and more. In association with the Hugh Lane Gallery.

Sunday July 28th
Explore and Create – A fun and educational afternoon for all the family with a range of Science & Technology attractions from the past, present and future. It will be a festival for the curious featuring a series of displays and workshops with a broad scientific and learning theme.

Sunday August 4th
City Carnival – The first week of August is ‘International Clown Week', so to celebrate, the final event of Summer Sundays on College Green will be City Carnival. The performance spaces will see appearances from multi-talented artistes, while the side show will feature an Antique Carousel, Facepainters, Stiltwalkers, Jugglers and Mime Artists. The event will also host workshops to give families the chance to try out some basic Circus Skills.

IFI Family Festival

Irish Film Institute (IFI)

Spread your film wings this summer with our great programme choices. Stop off in Japan for a brand new anime, or touch down in Australia; root for Sune in Sweden, or feisty Ladhaki girl Chuskit in India. However different the setting, many of the films we’ve chosen share a common theme of characters trying to find their own way against family traditions. Biodiversity and conservation play a part too, in our rainforest-set minibeast opening film and Sunday’s closing film. With Irish premieres and big screen escapades, whatever the weather, you can see the world this July at the IFI.
