Signs of Spring Poetry and Music Walk

What better way to celebrate the arrival of Spring than at a unique poetry and music event immersed in the beautiful and peaceful surrounds of the National Botanic Gardens. Join poets Jane Clarke and Katrina Naomi, and piper James Mahon, for this relaxed and uplifting walk around the gardens, pausing along the way for music and poetry tuned to the signs of spring in the Botanics.

Jane Clarke is the author of two poetry collections, The River and When the Tree Falls (Bloodaxe Books 2015 & 2019), as well as an illustrated chapbook, All the Way Home,(Smith|Doorstop 2019). Jane’s awards include the 2016 Hennessy Literary Award for Poetry and the 2016 Listowel Writers’ Week Poem of the Year. Her third collection, A Change in the Air, will be published by Bloodaxe in May 2023.

James Mahon is an award-winning musician and composer who has performed globally as a solo artist and with internationally recognised bands such as Afro Celt Sound System and Kíla. His work as a composer has recently been recognised with an IFTA award for score of the Irish film Arracht and with an Oscar Nomination for his work on the score of Cartoon Saloon’s Wolfwalkers. He is in high demand as a tutor doing master classes globally.

Katrina Naomi is a poet from Cornwall and the winner of the 2021 Keats-Shelley Prize. Her most recent collection, Wild Persistence, (Seren, 2020), received an Authors’ Foundation award from the Society of Authors. Same But Different, a poetic collaboration with Helen Mort, (Hazel Press, 2021) won the 2022 Saboteur Award for Best Collaboration. Katrina has a PhD in creative writing and teaches for Arvon and the Poetry School.
