Right Here Right Now! Festival of Children

Right Here Right Now! Festival of Children

The Ark, Thursday 13th June - Sunday 16th June 2019

Right Here Right Now! Festival of Children is a celebration of children's rights, the right to play, to engage in cultural activities and the right to express yourself!

The Festival will coincide with Cruinniú na nÓg, Ireland's national day of creativity for children and young people. A special weekend of art, theatre, dance, games and film, designed by children, for children awaits. The voice of the child is at the heart of this festival. Children have played a vital role at every stage of its development. From the very beginning children advised on what the festival should be called, what events should be included and an open design call gave children the chance to design the artwork for the festival.

The pinnacle moment will be the Right Here Right Now! Rally. The Ark is asking schools, children's clubs, groups and families to get involved and for children all over Ireland to rally together to be seen and heard. On 14th June at 11am The Ark will hold a children's rally in Meeting House Square but children are encouraged to hold their own rallies wherever they live. Write speeches, create your banners, flags and songs for this celebration of children's rights. This is your moment!

All events will be free! Advance booking for a number of events is required.

Swords Castle

The Leinster Pipe Band Championships will be held in the grounds of Swords Castle, Swords, County Dublin on Saturday, 4th May 2019. This is the second year these championships are being held, thanks to the support of Fingal County Council. The bands will be from all parts of Ireland - last year, bands from Armagh, Carlow, Dublin, Killeshin, Limerick, Newcastlewest and New Ross competed. While there is a serious side to the competition, as the rules of the competition must be obeyed, it is a family event and an opportunity to catch up with old friends, after the long practice season.
