Nine Lessons & Carols: A Christmas Choral Celebration

Christchurch Cathedral, Sunday 18th December 2016

“The tone of Chamber Choir Ireland is liquid in its power and purity, beautifully balanced and pitched” – Rathcol, Belfast Telegraph, October 2016

Join Chamber Choir Ireland this December for Nine Lessons and Carols, a very special concert featuring a selection of festive classics interspersed with traditional readings in the glorious surrounds of Christ Church Cathedral Dublin.

The Nine Lessons service was formalised in 1880 and has continued as a Christmas tradition ever since. Chamber Choir Ireland’s Artistic Director Paul Hillier has arranged a selection of traditional and not so traditional carols, for this year’s concert, which are complemented by additional works from Skempton, Praetorious, Crosse and Ó Gallchobhair.

Chamber Choir Ireland’s annual Christmas performance is a festive highlight for many and is the perfect way to celebrate the Christmas season with loved ones. Early booking is advised to avoid disappointment!

Chamber Choir Ireland is the country’s flagship choral ensemble and national chamber choir under the internationally celebrated and multi-award-winning conductor Paul Hillier as Artistic Director. The Choir is recognised for its unique approach to creative commissioning, recording and programming, and has gained a reputation for the high artistic quality of its performances.

The Choir has made a significant contribution to the development of contemporary Irish choral music through its commitment to commissioning new work.
